Free Space: "Its time for women to talk about sex"
South Africa, 8 March 2017
International Women's Day (IWD) is where womxn all over the world are celebrated for their achievements in their struggle for gender equality. We ask those who are able, to embrace this year’s IWD theme: Be bold for change.
In celebration of IWD and all the queer African womxn who have contributed to the fight for recognition, Iranti is organising an event entitled:
Free Space: Queer Safe Sex -
‘It's time for womxn to talk about SEX’
There will be forums on the topics of consent and sexual pleasure as well as an open mic session where participants can share any information or artwork which is important to them. Womxn’s bodies are policed and monitored by society, so the event will seek to look at the experiences of such bodies and celebrate them in a manner that is informative, safe, and entertaining.
Our new ‘Free Space’ initiative will be utilised for a number of other topics and themes in future. Be sure to look out for updates on our website through the month of March.
